*Reclaim the Beats Warm Up and Introduction with DJ Rimarkable*
This Open Lecture illustrates how a working knowledge of Black music history, technical dj skill, psychology and intuition, can all translate to creating unification of community through the power of music. Participants will have increased awareness of the history of the DJ, an understanding of Black music’s impact on several genres of popular music, as well as, current and past and various DJ techniques. Participants will leave with a rough working development of their inner voice as a DJ and a general comprehension of their personal style and intention when performing, as well as a comprehension of “reading the crowd” responsibilities and capabilities of the disc jockey profession as a conduit for social justice.
This Introduction and Warm Up to the Reclaim the Beats Festival, taking place in autumn this year is a chance to meet and connect with the organizers. There will also be the possibility to complete short survey where participants can offer feedback on things they hope might be included in the festival.
