Screening: “The Wall Fell on Our Heads” (Quote: Lucía Muriel)

Women of Color and Their Perspectives on the Fall of the Berlin Wall (40min, German with English subtitles)

Friday, 28th  September, 7pm

Warm-up event for the “3rd Annual Black Feminism, Womanism and the Politics of Women of Colour in Europe Conference“.

In individual and group interviews, five Feminists of Colour were asked about their political activism against racism and sexism with regard to the period of German reunification. The film examines how they experienced the profound political change, what meaning the German reunification has for them and how they lived through the subsequent rise in racist violence.

Currently in post-production, the documentary will be finalised soon and will be integrated in the website www.verwobenegeschichten.de to add to this archive of resistance and commemoration of marginalized histories.

Directors: Diane Izabiliza and Iman Al-Nassre

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Diane Izabiliza, Jeanette Higiro and Nivedita Prasad. The Q&A will take place in German spoken language. English spoken translation can be provided if necessary.
